this is great and it does exactly what I bought it for -- it froths the milk prefect.
I'm a beginner in the espresso machines's world and I was just frothing the milk without knowing that it needs to be done in a specific temperature, so, basically, my cappuccino was COLD and tasted very bad, so, from the time that it had been received to me, I never stopped making great cappuccino and latte as well, even when I got a new espresso machine (DeLonghi ESAM 4400 (Perfect 5 stars machine)), I continue to use it daily.Buy it, you won't regret it.Thanks,
I do recommend it for household use. Doesn't rust and it's accurate. The top portion is made of two piece plastic. My initial concern was water penetration, but I've been using it for close to a year now and it works great.
It is really handy to have. I use my thermometer for not only cappuccino but other things as well (like making sure my water temp is correct for yeast). It is small and nicely attaches to cup or whatever.
previously I used a office paperclip and a regular digital thermometer and I will return to that setup. the clip is weak and doesnt hold well. check alton brown for the paperclip and thermometer technique. there are better thermometers out there. temperature gauge is only from 180 to 120.
